What's A Hydrosol?
Hydrosols are created when plant materials - such as roots, barks, flowers, leaves, stems, and seeds - are steam distilled to obtain an essential oil. The distillation process yields another separate water portion of the water soluble compounds of the plant. This water extraction is called a "hydrosol" and these can be used for multiple aromatherapy and skincare applications. They have many of the same healing properties as the plant's essential oil, but are very gentle and easy to apply.
Hydrosols are often used in skin care recipes as bases for lotions, masks, and facial treatments. As toners, hydrosols can be cleansing, hydrating, and help minimize the appearance of large pores. They also help to balance pH and sebum production, making them useful for both dry and oily skin.
We offer hydrosols in Rose, Rose Geranium, Lavender, Neroli, Frankincense, Rosemary, and Sandalwood. Learn more about these products here.
